Interlux Brightside Fire Red 4248 is a premium one-part polyurethane topside paint for marine surfaces above the waterline. Its high-gloss, self-leveling formula flows out smooth when brushed or rolled in thin coats, delivering a near-sprayed look with good colour retention, stain resistance and abrasion resistance.
For use above the waterline only. Follow the current Interlux technical data sheet for surface preparation and priming.
Sand between coats. Drying time varies with temperature and application conditions.
Apply several thin, even coats rather than one heavy coat, over properly prepared compatible substrates and primers. Interlux Pre-Kote is commonly used as an undercoat, and 333 Brushing Liquid may be used where specified for brushing or rolling.
Can Brightside be used below the waterline?
No. It is designed for use above the true waterline only.
Is this a one-part paint?
Yes. It is a one-part polyurethane, so no curing agent is needed.
When should the finish be recoated?
Recoat when the existing finish becomes faded, chalked, scratched, worn or damaged.
Do I need to sand between coats?
Yes. Interlux specifies sanding between coats for adhesion and gloss.
Best use case: Adding a bold, high-gloss red to boot stripes, trim and accent areas, or refreshing topsides with a one-part system that is easy to apply.
Most common mistake: Applying heavy coats. Brightside self-levels best in thin coats, and skipping cleaning, sanding or surface preparation reduces adhesion and gloss.
Sizing and fitment guidance: This listing is 1 US quart. A quart is often enough for boot stripes and accents, while larger topside areas need more material once coat count is factored in. If you are matching an existing finish, confirm colour code 4248 before ordering.
