Best Use Parts Desk Insight

Designed specifically for Johnson/Evinrude outboard applications always confirm fitment against Sierra’s current application guide by engine horsepower, model, and year before ordering. OMC outboards are particularly sensitive to impeller condition; a worn or collapsed impeller can cause rapid overheating and powerhead damage. Replace on a seasonal schedule or every 100200 hours of operation, whichever comes first. During service: remove the lower unit, inspect the pump housing and wear plate for scoring, and replace the housing if grooves are present. Lubricate the impeller with dish soap or glycerin only never petroleum-based products. Never run the engine out of water, even briefly during startup. After installation, verify water flow from the tell-tale before returning the boat to service.
