The GSD 24 is a black-box sonar module that adds or upgrades sonar capability on compatible Garmin GPSMAP chartplotters without replacing the display. It connects via the Garmin Marine Network (Ethernet) and processes sonar returns remotely keeping the sonar electronics away from the helm and allowing a cleaner, more capable sonar setup than an integrated unit can provide.
It supports traditional 50/200 kHz sonar as well as CHIRP transducers, and handles transducer power up to 1 kW delivering the depth penetration and target separation needed for serious offshore fishing and deep-water bottom reading. The sonar picture displays directly on your connected Garmin chartplotter, integrated with chart and GPS data.
Note: A compatible transducer and Garmin GPSMAP chartplotter are required and sold separately.
Best Use Case: The GSD 24 is the right choice when you want to add high-power or CHIRP sonar capability to an existing Garmin GPSMAP chartplotter that supports the Garmin Marine Network, without replacing the display. Its particularly well-suited for offshore fishing boats and larger vessels where 1 kW transducer power is needed for deep-water bottom reading and fish arch separation at depth. If your current chartplotter has integrated sonar but youre finding it underpowered for your fishing depths, the GSD 24 is a direct upgrade path. Confirm your GPSMAP model supports the Garmin Marine Network (Ethernet) connection before ordering not all GPSMAP units are compatible. Youll also need to select a compatible transducer; contact the Parts Desk for help matching the right transducer to your hull type and target depth range.
Installation Note: The GSD 24 should be mounted in a dry, ventilated location away from direct heat sources. Use shielded Ethernet cable for the network connection to minimize interference.
Estimated Packaging: Box approximately 10″ 8″ 4″ (25 20 10 cm), approx. 1 kg shipped.
