The NOCO Genius Boost HD GB70 is a compact 12-volt lithium-ion jump starter designed for cars, trucks, boats, RVs and commercial equipment. Its 2,000-amp peak output can jump-start petrol engines up to 8.0 litres and diesel engines up to 6.0 litres, while the 56Wh internal battery can provide up to 40 jump starts on a single charge under suitable conditions. Spark-proof connections, reverse-polarity protection, heavy-duty battery clamps and an IP65-rated enclosure make the GB70 well suited to vehicle, marine and emergency-use applications.
The GB70 is intended for 12-volt lead-acid starting batteries used in:
It may be used with flooded, maintenance-free, AGM and other compatible 12-volt lead-acid starting batteries. It is not intended to jump-start 24-volt electrical systems or lithium starting batteries unless their manufacturer specifically approves external jump starting with this type of device.
The built-in 400-lumen LED flashlight provides seven selectable operating modes:
The emergency signalling modes make the GB70 useful for roadside, marine and low-light emergency situations.
In addition to jump starting, the GB70 can serve as a portable power source.
The 5V, 2.1A USB output can recharge compatible devices such as smartphones, tablets, GPS units, cameras and handheld electronics.
The included female 12-volt adaptor allows the GB70 to power compatible 12-volt accessories drawing up to 15 amps, including tyre inflators, portable coolers, work lights, small pumps and vacuums. Confirm that the connected accessory does not exceed the GB70s 15-amp output limit.
The GB70 can be recharged through a USB power source at up to 5V/2.1A, the 12-volt XGC input at up to 3A, or a compatible NOCO XGC vehicle charging accessory. Using the 12-volt XGC fast-charge input can recharge the unit in approximately three hours under appropriate conditions.
The GB70 incorporates NOCO UltraSafe protection, including:
A red error light indicates reverse polarity. A flashing error light can indicate that the internal battery is too hot for operation.
The GB70 normally detects the connected battery before enabling its boost output. If the battery voltage has fallen below approximately 2 volts, the unit may not detect it automatically. Manual Override can force the jump-start output on for an extremely discharged battery. This mode disables the normal spark-proof and reverse-polarity safety protections and should only be used by someone who has positively identified the battery terminals and understands the risks.
Specifications can vary slightly between production revisions and packaging references.
The GB70 is intended exclusively for compatible 12-volt lead-acid battery systems. Before use, confirm:
Engine displacement is only one factor affecting starting requirements. Cold temperature, battery condition, engine compression, oil viscosity and electrical-system condition can all affect jump-starting performance.
For normal jump starting:
Do not crank the engine continuously for extended periods. Allow the jump starter to cool between unsuccessful attempts and investigate the battery, starter or engine if repeated attempts are required.
The GB70 can be used for emergency jump starting aboard boats with compatible 12-volt lead-acid starting batteries. Store it in a dry, accessible location and keep all charging-port covers securely closed when exposed to a marine environment. Although the housing is rated IP65 with the ports closed, the unit is not intended for submersion. Do not operate it near fuel vapours, leaking batteries or an explosive atmosphere.
Inspect or replace the jump starter if:
Do not open or attempt to replace the internal lithium-ion cells unless the procedure is specifically authorised by NOCO.
Included charging cables may vary with the production version or market, so verify current package contents when replacing an older GB70.
The GB70 is a strong choice for larger petrol engines and medium-duty diesel applications where a compact emergency starter is preferred over carrying conventional booster cables. Keep it charged, store it where it can be reached without opening an electrically locked compartment, and test its state of charge regularly rather than waiting for a starting emergency.
